If I see her sinking
I'll swim under her and support her
--while I drown instead

If I see her heading toward a cliff
I'll race in front of her and push her back
--and I'll fall instead
and she'll never even know

If I see her load is crushing her
I'll come behind and hold the weight myself
--and I'll be crushed instead
and she'll never even know

If I see the wolves are chasing her
I'll cut myself and bleed so they smell my sent
--and they'll tear at me instead
and she'll never even know

If I see the world laughing at her
Then I'll play the fool
--and they'll scorn me instead
and she'll never even know

If I see her sin is too grave to forgive
Then I'll sell my soul
--and I'll be damned instead
and she'll never even know


She is more than I ever dreamed of
I could never deserve her
And I love her forever
--will she ever even know???
